I wanted to write a quick blog post on my experience of a recent Tweet Up organised by Visit Eastbourne.
It makes me laugh when I hear local media describe people on twitter as geeks and recluses by using headlines like “Twitter users come out from behind the screen” or “Virtual Tweeters finally meet face to face” because I honestly can’t remember going to an easier networking event in Eastbourne.
With such a good mix of Private Sector, Public Sector and the general public. This gave the event such a breath of fresh air because Eastbourne can be dreadfully business like when out of the summer months.
I arrived with @CQCulturalQuart and @SimonGrovesPRG but I barely spoke to them once in because after the first chat with someone I’ve never met in person it just became a fluid transition from conversation to conversation. I think I chatted about everything from work and local issues to playing disc golf and nights out, not really mentioning the T word as much as you might think other than to laugh about being drunk in charge of an iPhone.
There were so many twitter users there to start mentioning all of their user names but I really think in particular @VisitEastbourne did a great job in organising the event along with @ConferenceEB and @ConvexLeisure
I’m already looking forward to the next one so big pat on the back to all involved
